제목 Ligand effect of dispersed molybdenum precursor on hydrocracking of vacuum residue
초록 Recent decrease in light petroleum crude has spurred much research in heavy-oil upgrading technologies. The vacuum residue(VR) occupying a half of heavier crude oil, has been a target to be upgraded into middle distillates. In the presence of unsupported oil-dispersible nano-catalyst, the slurry phase hydrocracking  provides better accessibility of refractory compounds toward active centers of the catalyst. This study presents the hydrocracking(HCK) activity of pretreated sulfide catalyst, molybdenum sulfide prepared in-situ with various ligands such as triphenylphosphine(TPP), trioctylphosphine(TOP) and trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) for the slurry phase hydrocracking of VR. The VR HCK reaction was conducted at 10MPa H2 and 693K for 2h in an autoclave reactor with catalysts(360ppm metal basis). The characterization was conducted with transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and extended X-ray absorption fine structure(EXAFS) spectroscopy. Overall, it was demonstrated that TPP shows the best ligand effect for MoS2 catalyst on the VR HCK with the formation of highly dispersed catalysts in size ranges below 8nm, providing asphaltene conversion, 36.0%.
