제목 | Formation of TiO2 Nano-dots in Silica Glass and Its Application |
초록 | TiO2 nano-dots structure was formed in glassy silica phase which prepared by rapid quenching of the liquid phase with the composition of TiO2 : SiO2 = 1 : 1 in molar ratio. In this system, the liquid TiO2 phase dissociate from the liquid SiO2 phase. However, a small amount of TiO2 component can be dissolved in liquid SiO2 phase at high temperatures. Since the amount of dissolved TiO2 component in SiO2 phase increases with increasing temperature, an excess TiO2 phase that insoluble in SiO2 phase at low temperature precipitated during the cooling step and the SiO2 and TiO2 nano-dots structure was formed as shown in Fig.1. When the quenching process was performed in Ar atmosphere, rutile, anatase and magneli phase which is the oxygen defects type TiO2 were generated. The number of TiO2 nano-dots increases by a heat treatment due to differences of the TiO2 solubility between the heat treatment temperature and melting temperature. By the heat treatment at 1000oC that temperature is higher than the transition temperature form anatase to rutile, no volume fraction of anatase phase was observed. Namely, the anatase type TiO2 nano-dots structure prepared in this work is stable at 1000oC. In this paper, the formation mechanism of TiO2 nano-dots structure, its thermal stability and catalytic ability will be discussed. |
