The miniaturization of functional devices in modern technology has driven the fabrication of nanometer-scale periodic structures to such an extent that the new research fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology have emerged. One of the promising advances in this field is to utilize the self-assembled nanostructures of block copolymers. Various morphologies of amphiphilic block copolymers were obtained by solvent vapor annealing. In this study, polystyrene-block-poly(4-hydroxy styrene) was synthesized by anionic polymerization, and self-assembled into perpendicular lamellae structure after annealing in acetone for a short period of time. Subsequently, the functionalized nanostructure was switched from nano-lines to nano-dots upon further vapor annealing. The ability to precisely control the ordering of a functionalized block copolymer is very important because it can be used as a template for the preparation of nanodots, nanowires and nanorods of metals and semiconductors. |
