Structural modification of supramolecular nanostructure with organic semiconductor via physico-chemical nanoconfinement |

Discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) are well known semiconducting materials which show novel self-assembly behavior. As their charge transporting properties can be determined by their assembly axis, control of their super structure is essential for the stable device performance. Recently, we reported new type of DLCs which show ambipolar charge transport characteristics for both hole ane electron. However, it was hard to realize the uniaxial alignment of super structures with conventional LC aligning tools. Because of this failure, we failed to make stable electric device and precisely analyze the nanostructure of the supramolecules. In this experiment, we introduced the nano-template for the tight geometrical confinement for the DLCs. Because of the high specific surface area of the nano-channel, we succeeded in uniaxial alignment of the columns and analyze it in molecular level with grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXD). |
