Among numerous types of drugs, taxane derivatives such as paclitaxel and docetaxel (DTX) have been extensively used for cancer therapy. However, their clinical applications have been hampered by their poor water solubility and unselective toxicity toward both normal cells and cancer cells. In attempt to solve these problems, we developed pH-sensitive carboxymethyl dextran (CMD)-based nanoconjugates for efficient cancer therapy. The release rate of DTX from the CMD backbone increased in mild acidic condition, owing to the cleavage of pH-labile linker. The physicochemical characteristics of CMD-DTX were investigated using H-NMR, dynamic light scattering, high-performance chromatography, confocal microscopy. Overall, CMD-DTX might have a potential as an efficient cancer therapeutic agent. |
