Surface-initiated ring opening polymerization (SI-ROP) of L-Lactide onto metal stent for enhancing interfacial adhesion |
초록 |
Method of securing the adhesion of biodegradable polymer coating was investigated for stent applications, using a SI-ROP of L-lactide. The thickness of the polymer grafted on stainless steel (SS) remained in nanometer scale, as determined by using ellipsometer, ATR-FTIR, and ESCA. To measure the adhesive forces, PLGA was coated on the different substrates - intact SS, plasma-treated SS, and L-lactide-grafted SS (nanocoupled SS) - using electrospraying and these groups were tested for their adhesion forces using a scratch tester. The results exhibited that the nanocoupled SS was most adhered with the coating polymer as compared to other groups. This work suggested that interfacial adhesion stability considerably increased by utilizing the concept of nanocoupling but the drug release from polymer coating was rarely affected. |
