제목 Robust immobilization of neuronal cell membrane on neural interfacing devices for competent tissue integration
초록 At the interface of an neural probe, immune responses limit the recording stability of the device. To prevent this negative actions, we fabricated titanium substrates covered with cell membranes extracted from differentiated PC12 cells to induce the surface localization of neuronal adhesion molecules, which promotes neurite outgrowth and neural network formation. The modified substrate was prepared by pre-tethering of lipids on the surface and introducing extracted membrane components by vesicle fusion method. The surface modification was investigated by FT-IR, confocal microscopy and FRAP assay. Further, in vitro cell study revealed encouraging results in terms of adhesion and differentiation of neuron, showing different behavior of astrocyte from those of neuron was also observed. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that this system would act as an efficient tool for modulating immune response of neural probes.
