제목 Non-viral Toxin Gene Delivery for Treatment of Cancer
초록 In this study, we develop a novel non-viral cancer gene therapy using toxin genes derived from bacteria. In the treatment of cancer, viral vectors for gene delivery often cause serious side effects such as mutagenesis and immunogenicity. Thus, we synthesized and screened cationic polymers for effective gene delivery to cancer cells without significant toxicity to normal cells. We found that delivery of toxin genes in the form of nanoparticles selectively repressed the growth of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis. Also, we confirmed the anti-tumor effect of our gene therapy in a tumor-bearing xenograft mouse model. In conclusion, we suggest efficient and safe cancer gene therapy which could selectively inhibit tumor growth and we believe that our technique could be applied to treat cancer in combination with other conventional treatments.
