Recently, various battery technologies for next-generation battery have been studied in academia and industry. Solid-state battery technology is one of them, and it is basic to utilize solid electrolytes such as polymer, oxide, sulfide, etc. instead of liquid electrolytes. The nonflammable solid electrolytes provide the opportunity to improve safety in battery. Additionally, high capacity anodes like Li metal can be used to increase energy density. However, there are still numerous technical challenges in order to commercialize solid-state batteries and to apply to electric vehicles. In this talk, we will discuss recent developments in solid-state batteries and their challenges in an industrial perspective. |
