Antibacterial super absorbent polymer (SAP) with novolac coating |
| 초록 |
Super absorbent polymer (SAP) was coated with various novolac polymers having antibacterial activity. SAP was prepared from acrylic acid and crosslinkers by free radical polymerization. 4 different novolac polymers were synthesized from paraformaldehyde and various phenols including cardanol, cashew nut shell liquid, pentadecylphenol, and nonylphenol. Novolac-coated SAP was analyzed with FT-IR spectroscopy. The capacity of water uptake and antibacterial activity of the prepared SAPs were also investigated. Owing to the good water uptake ability and antibacterial properties, the novolac-coated SAPs can be a candidate of SAPs for diapers and sanitary pads. |
