Polymer inorganic nanocomposites have attracted considerable attention during recent decades because they exhibit greatly improved physical and mechanical properties at relatively low filler loading levels in comparison with conventional microcomposites. Halloysite nanotube (HNT), a type of tubular nanoclay, has been recognized as an effective nanofiller for various polymers. Nylon 11 is an important commercial polyamide with piezoelectricity and good mechanical properties and widely used in a large range of industrial fields from automotive to offshore applications. In this study, nylon 11/HNT nanocomposites were prepared by melt mixing process and the effects of HNT on thermal, mechanical, and piezoelectric properties of the nylon 11 were investigated by DMA, tensile testing, DSC, TGA, and piezometer. |
