제목 Efficient loading of ocular drugs with a poor loadability into contact lenses using functional co-monomers
초록 Therapeutic contact lens(TCL) which is ophthalmic drug loaded contact lens has been widely studied as an ocular drug delivery system. Contact lenses consist of polymeric hydrogel formed by poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate)(pHEMA) have an ability to swell in aqueous condition. When a contact lens is soaked in a drug solution, it swells to equilibrium and drug molecules are diffused in the contact lens from bulk solution. However, not all drugs are diffused and loaded well. Some drugs are inadequately loaded into pHEMA hydrogel contact lenses. Therefore, here we focused on enhancement of loading capacity of pHEMA TCL for drugs with a poor loadability by alteration of polymer compositions. Addition of functional co-monomers was to change the properties of pHEMA hydrogel and brought significantly increased loading of poor loadable drugs.
