제목 Study of Orientation and Optical Property of Reactive Mesogen with Diacrylate Functional Group
초록 Reactive mesogens(RMs) are liquid crystal(LC) materials that can be permanently fixed in the LC phase by polymerization. Typical RMs have the same electro-optic properties as following the orientation of LC molecules but with additional reactive groups to allow polymerization. It is possible that variable orientations such as homogeneous, homeotropic, cholesteric liquid crystal(CLC) and hybrid orientation can be well-induced by surface treatment or adding small amount of functional materials. The use of RMs has been shown to be one of the most promising ways of constructing thin and high quality optical retardation films which have role of improving the viewing angle performance of liquid crystal displays(LCDs). In this study, we fabricated retardation films with the orientations of hybrid and CLC structure. The orientation of the LC molecules was investigated by polarized-FTIR spectroscopy. Retardation values of the LC films were analyzed by retardation measurement system.
