A Study on Phenothiazine-Based Donor-Acceptor Copolymers: Characterization by Side-Chain Structure for Organic Photovoltaic Materials |

In this study, donor-acceptor copolymers based on phenothiazine were synthesized, and 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole was chosen as an electron acceptor. To investigate the influence of structural variations, structure of linear or branched and length of side-chains of copolymers were incorporated into the phenothiazine. The weight-averaged molecular weights(Mw) of synthesized polymers were 7,600 to 9,300, weight polydispersity index of 1.31 to 1.81. The excellent thermal stabilities of the polymers displayed decomposition temperatures above 300 ℃. The UV-Vis absorption of the polymers showed a broad absorption band in the range of 300 to 700 nm, and the measured optical band gaps were in the range of 1.90 to 1.98 eV depending on the structure of the polymers. The devices were fabricated using the synthesized polymers as an electron donor and PC71BM as an electron acceptor to investigate the photovoltaic characteristic. |
