Organic-inorganic hybrid sols were synthesized from nano silica particles dispersed in water and from organoalkoxysilanes, using the sol-gel reaction. The hybrid sols used a binder as dispersion medium of ceramic powder for producing the electric insulating layer of the heating system. This work focuses on the effects of the different alkyl group of organoalkoxysilanes to obtain stable hybrid sol as dispersion medium. The variation of the viscosity of the hybrid sol was evaluated with the reaction time for the hybrid sol stability. Thermal stability was observed by TGA thermograms. In order to understand physical and chemical properties, the coating films were fabricated on glass substrate. The coating films were flat and transparent without cracks. Transmittance, surface roughness, and surface free energy of coating films were investigated for surface properties with reaction times. |
