The needle-like polyaniline (PANI) doped with p-Toluenesulfonic acid (PTSA) was prepared by the oxidative reaction. The reaction of PANI and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) in an alkaline solution successfully led to the formation of silica-coated PANI (PANI/SiO2) hybrid. The calcination of PANI/SiO2 hybrid at 450 oC for various heating time gave a hollow silica microtube, and the formation of silica microtube was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The size of silica microtube was 2-15 μm in diameter, 33-225 μm length and 0.1-0.2 μm wall-thick. The surface area and pore size of silica microtube were calculated to be about 487 m2/g and 862 nm, respectively, by the BET method. |
