Sorbent trap is designed for the control and test of the elemental and oxidized mercury emissions of the combustion process. When making spiked activated carbon samples, several measurement performance tests must be done to guarantee the experimental accuracy. In this research, different concentrations of spiked activated carbon samples are prepared for the analytical bias test. Samples are spiked by standard mercury solution and dried in room temperature. Water will evaporate and mercury will be spiked relatively evenly on the surface of the activated carbon. Because of volatilization of gaseous mercury and remain of moisture attached on the surface, the recovery of the samples will perhaps be less than 90%. By method 3052B and method 7473, this research aims at finding appropriate ways to fulfill spiking recovery. |
