Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have arisen as a technically and economically credible alternative to the p-n junction photovoltaic devices. In this study, an ionic liquid, 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium iodide (MPII), and an ionic conductor, 1,3-dimethylimidazolium iodide (DMII), were applied as a non-volatile hole transporting material in combination with metal complex to fabricate solid state (ss) DSSCs. A MPII-based ssDSSC showed a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.10%, resulting from 10.11 mA/cm2 of the short-circuit current (Jsc), 0.578 V of the open-circuit voltage (Voc) and 53.01 % of fill factor (FF). On the other hand, the PCE of a DMII-based ssDSSC was increased to 4.48 % (Jsc = 14.57 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.532 V and FF = 57.81 %) due to an enhancement in both Jsc and FF. *This work is financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) through the fostering project of Industrial Complex Campus. |
