Self-assembled Nanocapsules Based on A Stimuli-Sensitive Pentablock Copolymer for Gene Delivery |

Amphiphilic block copolymers can self-associate to form characteristic ordered structures, such as a micelle-like core-shell structure, in an aqueous solution. A new pentablock copolymer having pH/temperature sensitive units was synthesized. The pentablock copolymer (PAE-PCL-PEG-PCL-PAE) consists of a temperature-sensitive triblock copolymer of poly(ethleneglycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL-PEG-PCL) and pH-sensitive poly(β-aminoester) (PAE) blocks at both ends of the triblock copolymer. In this study, the pentablock copolymer was used as a new class of non-toxic, biodegradable carrier for gene delivery by forming nanocapsules entrapping nucleic acid drug. |
