Polyimides polymers inherit better permselectivity features than other glassy polymers in addition to its high thermal, chemical and mechanical properties. However, polymers suffers from low solubility and permeability. Newly synthesized polyimide named 5-(2, 5-dioxotetrahydrofuryl)-3- methyl-cyclohexane- 1, 2 -dicarboxylic anhydride (DOCDA) easily was able to uplift these properties. Metal Inorganic Framework (MOFs) and LTA zeolite were incorporated in DOCDA-PI polymer matrix for variable gas separation application and their special feature on selected membrane were discussed. A simple approach of variable concentration of inorganic particles without additional modifiers was used to enhance the membrane performance. Incorporating LTA zeolite into DOCDA-PI results in simultaneous increase of permeability and selectivity. Moreover, tremendous increase in H2/N2 selectivity from 155.3 to 228.9 were obtained for 10 and 20 filler weight loading % respectively. |
