We designed and synthesized a red phosphorescent iridium(III) complex, bis(2-(4-methoxynaphthalen-1-yl)benzo[d]thiazole) Iridium(III)(acetylacetonate) [(BTMN)2Ir(acac)], for solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of (BTMN)2Ir(acac) showed maximum emission peak (λmax) of 599 nm in dichloromethane solution. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels of (BTMN)2Ir(acac) were measured to be -5.16 and -3.08 eV, respectively. Electroluminescent (EL) spectra of (BTMN)2Ir(acac) exhibited maximum emission peak at 598 nm with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 76 nm and CIE coordinates of (0.59, 0.37) at 1,000 cd/m2. The device with 9% doping concentration of (BTMN)2Ir(acac) exhibited maximum luminance of 3,873 cd/m2, maximum luminous efficiency of 13.4 cd/A, power efficiency of 10.2 lm/W, and external quantum efficiency of 10.7%, respectively. |
