High-quality graphene have been exfoliated directly from graphite by edge functionalization. The edges of pristine graphite were covalently grafted with 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBAc) via Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction in a mildly acidic phosphoric acid (H3PO4)/phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) medium. To enhance specific capacitance of graphene, platinum nanoaprticles (PNPs) were attached to thiol-funcionalized graphene. (MBG) The morphology of the resultant composites were studied by TEM and SEM. EA, EDX, FT-IR, TGA, Raman were used to further characterize the nanocomposites. From the electrical study, the specific capacitance of MBG and MBG/PNP nanocomposites were compared with CV. |
