Phosphorylcholine (PC) containing polymers having well defined structure have been known considerable potential for a range of medical applications such as blood contact materials, implants and artificial organs. These favorable features of PC containing polymers inspired us to develop cell membrane mimicking surface mediated gene delivery system utilizing new brush polymers with various numbers of bristle ends incorporating PC moieties, poly (oxy (11-phosphorylcholineundecylthiomethyl)-ethylene-ran-oxy (n-dodecylthiomethyl)ethyl-ene)s (PECH-PCm, m represent the incorporation ratios of PC groups into polymer) which exhibited novel self-assembly structures. Therefore, in this study, we investigated gene delivery efficiency and mechanisms of gene activated PC polymer surfaces in respect to the interaction toward cell membrane. |
