Ru-BINAP catalysts immobilized on the phosphotungstic acid (PTA) modified alumina were prepared by changing the catalyst immobilization conditions and the effects of the reaction variables (temperature. H2 pressure, solvent and water content) on the catalytic performance of the prepared catalysts were investigated in the asymmetric hydrogenation of methyl acetoacetate (MAA). The characterization of the catalysts was performed using 31P-MAS NMR, FT-IR, and the leached out Ru in a reaction mixture after hydrogenation was analyzed by ICP-AES. Variation of the amount of PTA in catalyst preparation and the added water in hydrogenation resulted in different activity and selectivity. |
