Synthesis of spiropyran-incorporated polymers and their application as a gas sensor |
초록 |
A photochromic material undergoes a reversible structural change that interconverts two distinct isomeric forms upon irradiation at specific wavelengths. Spiropyran (SP) has the ability to change the optical and structural properties with respect to light, protons and metal ions. SP photochromism is due to cleavage of the C-O spiro bond that allows a conformational rearrangement between a closed colorless SP form to an open colorful merocyanine (MC) form. In our research we synthesized azide functionalized SP and by click chemistry we attached it to polymers (SP-PVA). Upon exposure to analysts we found color changes of SP-PVA due to the reaction with the MC form. We think SP-incorporated polymers can be applied as a sensory material for toxic gases. |
