Here, novel nanoparticles based on poly(butylmethacrylate-co-trimethylammonium ethylmethacrylate) [poly(BMA-co-TMAEMA)] are introduced for non-invasive drug delivery. These new carriers can transport biological active agents through the intact skin tissue. This capability comes from not only deformability, but also surface charge of the carriers. In order to prove the main effects of deformability and surface charge, poly(butylmethacrylate), poly(methylmethacrylate) and their copolymers with TMAEMA are used. These nanoparticles are applied onto the guinea pig skin in the Franz diffusion cell to verify our investigation. In order to clarify if the carrier itself containing active ingredients penetrates into the skin or not, the nanoparticles coupled with fluorescent moiety are prepared and observed by CLSM (Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy) after in-vitro and in-vivo skin permeation experiments. |
