제목 Light-responsive Smart Surface with tunable wettability by Photothermal effect of Gold Nanoparticles
초록 We fabricated smart surfaces that can be switched between superhydrophobic and superhyrophilic state by visible light. For this purpose, we first prepared a rough surface on a silicon wafer by using the layer-by-layer deposition (LBL) by immersion of the substrate into poly(allyamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and SiO2 nanoparticles having diameter of ~ 11nm. Then, LBL was further performed by immersion into poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PSS) and a colloid solution with gold nanoparticles having diameter of ~45 nm. Then, surface-initiated atom-transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) was used to synthesize visible light-responsive poly(n-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) thin films on a rough substrate. We found that the surface wettability was changed by utilizing chain conformation of PNIPAM through heat arising from photothermal effect of Au nanoparticles in the presence of visible light.
