Effect of catalyst system and reaction variables to the synthesis of poly(phenylene ether) |
초록 |
The oxidative coupling polymerization of 2,6-dimethylphenol (DMP) by copper/amine complex was carried out in organic solvents.The experimental variables include the DMP to catalyst ratio, solvent, and the ligand. Oxygen-uptake measurement was performed to find out the more effective catalyst-ligand complex system under a controlled reaction condition. The catalyst residue remained in the recovered polymer was removed by extraction or washing with aqueous solution containing EDTA or citric acid. In this work, the effects of reaction variables on the polymerization and the influence of catalyst removal on the properties will be discussed based on oxygen-uptake measurement, GPC, thermal analysis and spectroscopic evidences. |
