Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of Poly(trimethylene carbonate) Having Oligoethylene Glycol Branch Units for Lithium Polymer Rechargeable Battery |

The development of solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) having the high ionic conductivity is an important issue in electrolytes systems. Many scientists have tried to synthesize SPEs which exhibit high ionic conductivity with excellent mechanical properties, but only limited results have shown improved ionic conductivity. In this work, we have synthesized comb-branched polymers which contain poly(trimethylene carbonate) (PTMC) backbone and branch unit with various chain lengths of oligoethylene glycol (OEG). These polymers were prepared by using ring opening polymerization (ROP) of TMC derivatives composed of different units of OEG groups and characterized by using 1H NMR, MALDI-TOF-MS and GPC analyses. PTMC polymers having OEG groups were also introduced into SPEs system successfully. The results of ionic conductivity of the SPEs show that these polymers can be possible for lithium polymer batteries as a new type of SPEs through the development and modification of polymer structures. |
