To reduce driving voltage in holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal(HPDLC) we added various amounts of poly vinyl carbazole(PVB) with high dielectric property to the conventional polyurethane acrylate(PUA) system at a composition of urethane acrylate oligomer(oligomer)/dipentaerythritol hexa-/penta acrylate(DPHPA)/N-vinyl pyrrollidinone(NVP) =4/3/3. Driving voltage of PVB-PUA film was 3V/μm, whereas virgin PUA was not driven at the same voltage. In addition, rising time of PVB-PUA film was 520μs, that of virgin PUA was 714μs. It indicates that the effective electric field across the droplet increases with the addition of dielectric property of polymer matrix. HPDLC based on PVB-PUA composite film also showed high diffraction efficiency and good diffraction grating. |
