Cross-linked polymeric hydrogels containing carboxylic or amine group were changed in equilibrium swelling properties by external conditions such as pH, ionic strength and electric field. In this study, swelling behavior of poly(vinylamine) (PVAm) hydrogel particles was investigated as a function of pH. At first, monodisperse poly(vinylformamide) (PNVF) particles were prepared by dispersion polymerization. Then, PVAm particles were synthesized by hydrolysis of PNVF particles on the basic conditions. The morphology and size of PVAm particles were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The swelling behavior of PVAm particles was investigated by using optical microscope (OM). |
