Preparation of microspheres using chitosan-g-PMVK copolymer for drug delivery. |

Poly(methyl vinyl ketone)(PMVK) is a typical example of photodegradable polymer and chitosan is a biodegradable natural polymer. Chitosan have great potential for pharmaceutical applications due to its biocompatibility. In this study, graft copolymer of chitosan(CS) with poly(methyl vinyl ketone)(PMVK) were synthesized by free radical method using KPS as an initiator. The microspheres of chitosan and CS-g-PMVK were prepared by water-in-oil(W/O) emulsion method using glutaraldehyde(GA) as a crosslinker in the hydrochloric acid(HCl) catalyst. The graft copolymers(CS-g-PMVK) and microspheres were confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy and SEM images. |
