제목 Effect of ESO on the homogeneous dispersion of silica in butadiene rubber
초록 Silica have been widely used filler in rubber industry, to used as the main reinforcing filler that increase the usefulness of rubber, due to its remarkable properties such as reduction of CO2 emission, high abrasion resistance, high processability, etc. In this research, we report on the modification of PBD with ESO leading to improve dispersion of silica in PBD based materials. The PBD was covalently functionalized with ESO by epoxy group on surface undertaken by ultrasonication. The surface functionalization present on the PBD were characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR. The peak of FT-IR spectra at around 1747cm-1 in ESO, corresponding to C=O stretching increased in intensity in the functionalized (ESO)PBD material. The functionalized (ESO)PBD showed significant increase in mechanical properties of (ESO)PBD/Silica composite compared to those of PBD/Silica composite.
