In this work, thermo- and pH-responsive copolymers, methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-block-polyaspartamides, were prepared from PEG-b-PSI through aminolysis using 2-diisopropylaminoethyl (DIP) and propargylamine (PPGA) as a pH-sensitive and clickable group, respectively. The PEG-b-polyaspartamide was then crosslinked with diazido compounds to afford the corresponding gel by click reaction. The LCST of the block copolymers in an aqueous solution was varied by changing both the graft composition and pH of the medium. The click gels showed stimuli-responsive behavior, in their degree of swelling and structure morphology changing with temperature and pH. These novel stimuli-responsive polymers have potential as smart drug delivery carriers and hydrogel matrices. |
