제목 Mechanical properties and bioactivity of polyetheretherketone composites with modified hydroxyapatite and modified carbon fiber
초록 Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has received a lot of attention for use in orthopedic implants due to its chemical stability and biocompatibility. However, there is still room for improvement in terms of bioactivity and mechanical strength. Regarding bioactivity, the inertness of PEEK should be overcome so that the material can be directly attached to the bone. For this, hydroxyapatite (HA), a bioactive material that binds to human bones, has been added as a filler. In terms of mechanical strength, it is ideal for the implant material to have the elastic modulus as similar to that of the cortical bone as possible. Thus, carbon fiber (CF) has been added as a filler. Finally, HA and CF have been modified to enhance the interfacial adhesion between the matrix and fillers. This is to prevent the aggregation of HA in the polymer matrix. The effects of modified fillers on composite strength and bioactivity were measured.
