Late transition metal catalysts in olefin polymerization have their advantages in tolerance for functional groups in the monomers or media used in the reactions as well as in regulation of branching of the polymer chain.We employed the catalysts in cyclopolymerization of functionalized dienes and polymerization of alkylcyclopentenes, and obtained the polymers with new structures and properties. mixture of the Pd diimine complex and NaB(C6H3(CF3)2)4 (NaBARF) initiates the cyclopolymerization of diallylmalonate as well as cyclocopolymerization of the functinallized diene with ethylene.Detailed studies on the reaction mechanism revealed that the polymer growth involved an intermediate complex with chelating malonate group. |
