Fabrication of Inverse Opal Hydrogel Sensor with Transfer Process |

Photonic crystal is a periodic nanostructure which has photonic band gap. This structure can be made by using monodisperse polymer microsphere. Originally, we have used Polystyrene(PS) colloidal particles to make well-ordered opal structure by using the ‘Direct enhanced evaporation colloidal assembly (DEECA)’ process. We could fabricate inverse opal hydrogel by eliminating the polymer microsphere. This structure swells or shrinks as respond to a certain stimulus when it was exposed to solution with different condition due to ‘Gibbs-Donnan effect’. To produce the hydrogel sensor in various forms, we used transfer process and photonic ball. The capability of this device can be enhanced by transferring to flexible substrates such as PET. These processes are expected to be utilized for various applications like biosensor. |
