제목 Polysaccharide-Polymer Nanoparticle for Inhibition of Doxorubicin cardiotoxicity
초록 Doxorubicin (DOX) is an anti-cancer agent used for various cancers. However, the concentration-dependent cardiotoxicity occurs from doxorubicinol (DOXol), which is formed from the metabolism of DOX.
In this study, we present novel polysaccharide-polymer nanoparticles (PPNPs) to control the release rate of DOX for inhibition of producing DOXol. Also, we selected a tumor overexpressed-receptor specific polysaccharide (RSP) to improve cellular uptake.  
PPNPs demonstrated improved cellular uptake, which was confirmed by competitive inhibition of free RSP. To evaluate the efficiency of PPNPs, we confirmed the pharmacokinetics of PPNPs by plasma, tissue concentration of DOX/DOXol. These data demonstrated that metabolism of DOX significantly decreased compared by free DOX, which result in reduced cardiotoxicity.
As a result, effective treatment can be expected to reduce cardiotoxicity by delivering specifically to cancer through PPNPs and successfully inhibiting the formation of DOXol.
