We demonstrate one-pot preparation method of the nanoporous membranes comprised of the covalent molecular networks. The membranes are prepared by utilizing the interplay of network/polymer phase separation and sol/gel transformation, which occur to the organic sol mixture of a growing molecular network and a non-network polymer. As the sol phase-separates via spinodal decomposition, the network-rich phase reaches its critical gelation concentration, resulting in a solid nanoscale framework with the bicontinuous spinodal morphology. Thin film membranes of the framework exhibit promising performances for liquid filtration, catalytic membranes, and battery separators thanks to the reticulated nanopore structure with high solvent and heat-resistance.
