Mechanical properties of Polyoxymethylene /calcium carbonate composites |

POM/CaCO3 composites were prepared by melt compounding POM with 0.2~10 wt% of nano-sized CaCO3 particles. CaCO3 in the range of 0.2~1 wt% was not perfectly dispersed but few aggregated clumps were observed. However, when CaCO3 content was higher than 1 wt%, more aggregated clumps were observed in the SEM image of the POM/CaCO3 composites. Incorporation of 0.2~1 wt% of CaCO3 improved the tensile strength of POM without a significant loss in the elongation at break. |
