Polyazomethines with aromatic backbones are attractive conducting polymers, exhibiting good thermal stability, fiber-forming, liquid crystalline, electronic, optoelectronic, and non-linear optical properties. Polyrotaxanes with a supramolecular cyclodextrin architecture were synthesized using a solution poly-condensation procedure, which yielded highly soluble, conjugated, and high-molecular mass poly(azomethine)s. Furthermore, [60]fullerene was incorporated as a nanosized stopper moiety for the prevention of dethreading. The products were characterized by SEC-LS, 1H-NMR UV-Vis, and FTIR spectroscopy as well as by cyclic voltammetry and TGA studies.
