Fabrication of Functional Nanostructures by Block Copolymer Thin Films |

Self-assembled block copolymers have attracted a growing attention as a unique class of platforms toward functional nanostructured materials. In this presentation, we introduce simple approaches for fabricating arrays of nanostructures using block copolymers (BCPs) as templates. Within this frame, arrays of shape-controlled titanium dioxide, composite metal/semiconductor to electroactive nanoporous polymers are produced. Porous aluminum oxide membranes and arrays of gold nanodots are also generated using plasma etching techniques via block copolymer lithography. In particular, surface plasmon resonance based optical sensing techniques are employed to monitor nanofabrication events occurring in the BCP templates in the experimental setup known as Kretschmann configuration. This methodology may provide significant advances over conventional analytical tools to explore in-situ/ex-situ studies on nanomaterials in terms of the simplicity and high-sensitivity. |
