Triangular Silver Nanoplates : Green Synthesis and Sensing Application |

Triangular Silver (Ag) nanoplates have potential applications because of their LSPR but their degradation behaviour is still poorly understood. Ag nanoplates show tunable plasmonic properties across the entire visible spectrum and in the NIR region through careful control of the aspect ratios of their structures. Our research produced Ag nanoplates with a high yield by one-pot green water-based synthesis in the presences ligands to promote kinetically controlled reaction. This method was not requiring the preparation of seed particles in advance, used non-toxic reducing agent and solvent media also no need for special equipment. The chemical stability investigated upon exposure to poly(styrene-4-sulfonate) and the shapes found to transform from triangular shapes to disk-like shapes. When the Ag nanoplates were aged with potassium persulfate the shape evolution was found to depend on the external temperature and the Ag nanoplate solutions showed different final colors. |
