For fabrication of automatically vertical alignment (VA) of liquid crystal (LC), dendritic amphiphile monomer based on itaconic acid (Ita3C12) was designed and synthesized. For the construction of multi-domain VA with pretilt angles for enhancement of electro-optic properties, Ita3C12 and methacryl polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxane (MAPOSS) were crosslinked by irradiation of UV light under electric field generated by fishbone patterned electrodes (PS auto-VA). Mainly because of the pretilted NLC at zero voltage, the electro-optic properties of the PS auto-VA cell. Furthermore, we confined that the surficial properties of the PS auto-VA cell aspect of physical and chemical interaction.
