제목 Direct non-oxidative conversion of shale gas to aromatics over active-metal modified ZSM-5 catalysts
초록 Conversion of light hydrocarbon gas to benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) has attracted great attention in response to the explosive increase of shale gas production in the 21st century. Conventional shale gas processing requires fractionation of hydrocarbon gas through cryogenic distillation, which is responsible for heavy amount of energy consumption. Shale gas aromatization is a potential alternative for such process, eliminating the need for complicated gas separation. Product gas is mainly composed of methane and small amounts of aromatics, which may then undergo subsequent valorization processes for the maximization of process efficiency.

This study aims to establish the catalytic fundamentals of shale gas aromatization where methane, ethane, and propane (main hydrocarbon components of shale gas) are all present. Effective active metal species and aromatization temperatures for each shale gas component were tested, and the contribution of methane on BTX production was examined.
