제목 Apple browning chemistry mimetic protective coating for soft biological interfaces
초록 The outer surface of an organism is an important barrier to maintain for protection against harmful external factors. This barrier between the external and internal environment is vital for organism’s survival and thus, requires a method of repair in case of damage. Such instances can be seen in apple browning and insect cuticle formation when exposed to air. We propose apple browning/ insect cuticle mimetic protective coating at the biological interface. The key components of the apple browning/ insect cuticle mimetic protective coating were pyrogallol, and polyethylenimine (PEI), an amine rich polymer chain. These two materials mimic formation of apple borowning/ insect cuticle by oxidation of pyrogallol in presence of air to form quinone groups, which react readily with the amines of PEI, forming a PG/PEI film only at the oxygen interface.
