제목 | A novel Injectable hydrogel rod with enhanced bioavailability and stability of protein drugs for the posterior segment eye disease |
초록 | Posterior segment eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration are major reasons of visual impairment. Treatment requires repeated or high-dose intravitreal protein drug injections, imposing serious burdens as well as intraocular complications. To overcome, injectable hydrogels have been studied for sustained intraocular protein delivery, however, it is still challenging to control the protein delivery. In this study, a novel injectable hydrogel rod has been developed to control the protein delivery for long-term period in a sustained manner. The crosslinking density (100, 50 and 25%) of hydrogel rod could be adjusted, resulting in controlled protein release rate (33.7, 60.3 and 98.6% for 90 days) with stable and manipulated initial burst release (0.25, 3.44 and 13.63% for 1 days) compared with in situ forming hydrogel. we suggest a novel hydrogel rod as a long term sustained delivery carrier for a variety of protein drugs.
