제목 Highly Efficient Electro-Optic Quinolinium Crystal for Broadband Terahertz Wave Generation
초록 We investigated efficient electro-optic HMQ-TMS ((2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxystyryl)-1-methylquinolinium 2,4,6-trimethylbenzenesulfonate) single crystals for THz wave generation. HMQ-TMS crystals were grown by various solution growth methods. HMQ-TMS crystal exhibited optimal crystal characteristics for terahertz wave generation, such as large crystal size, high optical quality and perfect order parameter (cos3θp = 1.0.). In addition, HMQ-TMS crystal also showed large microscopic and macroscopic optical nonlinearities of (185 × 10−30 esu) and (185 × 10−30 esu), respectively, obtained by quantum chemical calculation. To confirm linear optical properties of HMQ-TMS crystal, refractive index and absorption coefficient were measured at optical wavelength range from 600 to 2000 nm and THz frequency range from 0.3 to 1.5 THz. HMQ-TMS crystals exhibit broadband terahertz (THz) wave generation (upper cut-off frequency of 6.0 THz) using optical rectification (OR) at pump wavelength of 800 nm.
