Fabrication of PLA/POSS nanocomposites through radiation process |

In this study, the fabrication of biodegradable PLA/POSS nanocomposites was studied via a melt blending and electron beam irradiation. The nanocomposites prepared through a melt blending were irradiated by electron beams and their properties were investigated. The crosslinking degree of the irradiated nanocomposites was dependant on the absorbed dose. The irradiated nanocomposites exhibited much higher toughness in comparison to that of the control PLA due to the softening effect of POSS additives and the radiation-induced formation of 3-D network structures. |
