제목 Surface Amorphous Layer Introduced on Metal Oxide for Solar H2O2 Production
초록 Hydrogenperoxide (H2O2) is attracting attention in that it can beused as an energy carrier since it has an energy density of 2.1 MJ kg-1,which is comparable to compressed hydrogen (3.5 MJ kg-1). Therefore,photoelectrochemical (PEC) H2O2 production through water oxidation reaction (WOR) is an important technology. Since H2Oproduction by WOR is a competitive reaction with the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), it is crucial and highly challenging to control the reaction pathway toward our goal, H2O2. In this regard, we introduce a thin uniform amorphous titanyl phosphate (UATP) overlayer on the surface of titanium dioxide (TiO2) via in-situ method for reaction pathway control. The UATP overlayer passivates the surface trap states of TiO2, which is OER active site, resulting boosted PEC WOR H2Oproduction. The UATP overlaid TiO2 (UATP-TiO2) exhibited approximately 10 times higher H2O2 production and 3.7-fold enhanced Faraday efficiency at 1.76V vs. RHE, comparing to bare TiO2.​
